Classes

This is our introductory class that enables younger students to get a feel for dancing and movement. It includes basic technique of different dance styles, with a mixture of games and fun activities to develop children’s rhythm and coordination. The aim of this class is for children to experience as much dance as possible in a creative way, so they can begin to decide which classes they wish to continue with later on. Once the children reach Junior school age, we aim for this class to move onto our Junior section, where they will study the first two disciplines.

This is the more disciplined of our classes where children will work towards optional exams and learn the technical steps needed. The children will learn these still in an enjoyable and creative way. When not working towards an exam, pupils will be putting performance pieces together and learn about the gracefulness and fluency used to execute all steps.

Acro is excellent for building strength, stamina and flexibility in your child. The students learn tricks, tumbling and agility which extends what they do in cheer, but is a discipline in itself. It takes on the elements of contortionism and the dance elements of acrobatics to learn set technical skills, whilst also putting performance sequences together.

This class consists of learning the latest moves to the latest tracks.  The class starts with a whole class warm up activity, then onto learning a routine in groups, encouraging children to put their own moves and ideas in. I am a firm believer in children being creative and having their say in their routines, whilst taking technical tuition from a qualified teacher.  There are also opportunities for children to work in groups with assistants, learning new steps and choreographing short group pieces to incorporate into routines.

This class consists of all children starting with a warm up activity, and then moving onto one of the following three areas:

Tumbling/Stunts - In this section the children will learn how to make pyramids, various gymnastic actions such as cartwheels, forward rolls, and handstands.

Cheerleading Motions – This is where children learn various arm routines using their pompoms, making different shapes and patterns.

Cheer - Dance – This is the section where we put routines together using freestyle dance and pompoms, incorporating Stunts and Tumbling.

This again is another more disciplined class where children work towards optional exams and learn all the technical steps needed. Again, we endeavour to make sure the children learn these in a more creative way.

When not learning the technical steps we work on performance skills within Tap and the wider knowledge of rhythms needed for this class.

This class takes any possible dance style, usually something which inspires the group, and works on putting on a performance. This usually means working towards some kind of event or project. This can include various Drama, Dance and Singing activities related to a particular style. We aim to give the students a purpose for all their technical classes and give them confidence to show off their talents in front of an audience.

Mardi Gras class is very similar to performance group in style and structure; however this large troupe specifically trains to perform in Mardi Gras Shows on West End stages and even Disneyland Paris.

You can be aged 6-21 to take part in this troupe and has a specific rehearsal schedule throughout the year.
